Wine Enthusiast Companies Donates $20,000 to City Harvest in Support of Giving Tuesday

VALHALLA, N.Y. (December 8, 2022) Wine Enthusiast Companies, composed of Wine Enthusiast Media and Wine Enthusiast Commerce, announced today the company’s support for City Harvest with a $20,000 donation from sales on Giving Tuesday. Since the company was founded in 1979, Wine Enthusiast Companies has been committed to giving back to communities in need. Its founders, Adam and Sybil Strum, have long supported organizations promoting health, the environment, gender equality, the arts, and funds that help the wine and food worlds during crises.

On November 29, 2022, Wine Enthusiast held a charitable shopping event, where 10% of all sales would be dedicated to City Harvest, New York’s first and largest food-rescue organization helping to feed millions of New Yorkers who struggle to put meals on their tables. From handcrafted glassware and state-of-the-art wine openers to furniture made of reclaimed wine barrels, a portion of sales from every item across the retail website contributed to the charity special. The company will be donating $20,000 to City Harvest.

Giving Tuesday, often described as a global day of giving or a global generosity movement, is held each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. According to GivingTuesday.org, this day of giving was founded in 2012 at the 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for innovation and social impact in New York City.

“We are proud to partner with City Harvest and give back to the New York community,” said Sybil Strum, Co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of Wine Enthusiast Companies. “Our company has been based in New York for more than 40 years, and we are honored to assist in this organization’s mission to end hunger in communities throughout New York City. It is impressive and admirable that City Harvest will rescue and distribute more than 75 million pounds of nutritious food to its neighbors in need this year.”
